Description: rootgrow™ mycorrhizal fungi by PlantWorks UK is widely regarded as one of the most effective planting aids available to gardeners, recommended by the RHS and championed by leading gardeners. Rather than acting as a conventional fertiliser, rootgrow™ works by harnessing a completely natural process that has supported plant life for millions of years. When applied at planting time, the granules introduce beneficial mycorrhizal fungi directly to the root zone, where they rapidly colonise the roots and form a highly efficient secondary root system of their own.

This network of fine fungal filaments extends far beyond what the plant's own roots could ever reach - up to 20 metres of fungal threads have been recorded in a single sugar cube of soil. This dramatically increases the volume of soil the plant can access, allowing it to find more water and more nutrients. In return, the plant supplies the fungi with carbon in a mutually beneficial partnership that occurs naturally throughout the plant kingdom - over 90% of all plants form these relationships in the wild.

The practical benefits for gardeners are significant. Plants treated with rootgrow™ at planting time establish more quickly, develop better root systems, require less supplementary feeding, and are better able to cope with drought and difficult soil conditions. Failure rates are reduced, and plants show superior natural vigour throughout their lives. Crucially, just one single application at the time of planting supports the plant for its entire lifetime.

rootgrow™ is completely natural, organic, and native to UK soils, making it safe for use on edible crops, ornamental plants, trees, and shrubs. It is suitable for use with all planting methods including container plants, bare-root plants, bulbs, and seeds.

How to use:

Container and pot-grown plants: Sprinkle the appropriate amount of granules directly into the planting hole, place the plant on top ensuring the roots are in direct contact with the granules, then backfill and water in well. Use approximately 5g per litre of plant rootball.

Bare-root plants: Mix the included gel powder with water as directed to form a dipping solution. Add the rootgrow™ granules and stir well until evenly distributed. Dip bare roots into the solution ensuring complete coverage, allow excess to drain, then plant immediately.

Bulbs and seeds: Sprinkle granules along the seed drill or add a pinch just below the position of each bulb or seed before covering with soil.

Important note: rootgrow™ must be placed in direct contact with the plant's roots at the time of planting to be effective. It cannot be applied as a surface top dressing after planting. For best results, use within 12 months of opening.

Please note: rootgrow™ is not suitable for use with Brassicas, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Heathers, Cranberries, or Blueberries, as these plants do not form mycorrhizal partnerships. For Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Heathers, and other ericaceous plants, please use rootgrow™ Ericoid instead.
